Crossbeam is the result of a long term ambition by founder Antony Thorpe, to build an accounting firm that goes further than traditional accounting, to include a focus on improving business performance with every client.

Crossbeam is a new business concept.  The inspiration has come from the explosion of online software technologies.  With information held centrally, our services are designed to slot into existing businesses or assist the launch of a startup.  The client chooses the service level needed with our tailored options.

The name Crossbeam comes from Antony’s vision for the way in which accountants and businesses should work together in a more collaborative sense, bringing the accounting expertise into a business in the form of structural support, by sharing the skills and knowledge on a regular basis. This in turn, delivers full visibility of the resource provided and the value received, rather than as an annual event with an often misunderstood account.

Antony is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants with practical work experience at a senior level over a broad range of industries, including training and IT.  These experiences have lead him to incorporate these facilities within the Crossbeam business, offering services in the online software sphere and supporting these implementations with quality training. The online software sphere (Cloud Computing or Software as a Service) is expanding at a rapid and exciting rate, introducing a range of quality cost-effective systems.  Crossbeam has teamed up with software partners across Accounting, Inventory, Job Management and Payroll.  All of these partners are New Zealand owned and operated.

"Today it is possible to deliver quality financial support to businesses via robust, integrated online software systems.  These innovations bring to small business the ability to operate with similar disciplines and tools of big business.  Real-time, accurate information, when reported clearly, can improve management of resources creating efficiencies and improved profitability.  From a national perspective, the savings could be in the billions and will help businesses survive in tough economic times.  Add to this the positive impact of life-work balance on society. The gains await those prepared to take up new, powerful online technologies."

Antony is a family man, delighted with the recent arrival of his son. His interests are wide and varied, they include surfing, snowboarding, organic gardening and archaeology. Through his quest for knowledge and love of academic life he has begun writing a book with two other authors and hopes to have this published in the near future.
